So I've been in London for 5 days now and all I have to say now is that "I Love It!"
I had long been making the joke (even before I moved here) that if Obama didn't win the election I was moving from the US. But I must say, irregardless, I may want to stay anyway now that he's won.
I am very happy that he won though! Truly a groundbreaking moment President Elect Obama.
My happiness was however tempered by the fact that it looks like Prop 8 in California has passed, I suppose two revolutionary events can't happen on the same day. This issue really just needs to go to the US Supreme Court and stop this state by state nonsense.
Anyways, where was I? London!
Aside from the initial jet lag and the disturbing exchange rates, London is easily a city I could call home.
The area where I'm staying is a bit dead on weekends but during the week it's pretty busy with everyone going to and from work. Luckily I'm a few tube stops away from more happening spots and I'm looking forward to checking out Soho this weekend.
I have no clue where to go but I suppose that's what Google is for right? I'm determined to make a weekend of it. Rain won't stop me. Trains that stop running at midnight won't disrupt me.
Time to see what London has to offer...

has the weight got you yet? we don't use imperial in this part of the works baby!
it's miles per hour and kilos and grams.
the only pounds you get are in your pocket!
have you had fish and chips yet?
Get a "London A to Z" (and there that last letter is pronounced "Zed") and use it fr all its worth. The only real way to find your way around and most Londoners use one as well. Get one that fits in your pocket, but you can still read.
Oh how exciting it must be for you to be there. I am a little jealous. You went from Pittsburgh, to New York City, to London. Yeah, definitely envious.
@sam - of course I've had fish and chips. Even in the British Caribbean where I'm from that's a staple.
I haven't had to deal with weight just yet but the multitude of coins is definitely a bit confusing.
@Jim - Thanks, will try to find one!
@jbgbc - I know I'm very lucky to get the opportunities that I have and I'll never forget that.
That being said, you'll have your own opportunities and when you do, seize the day!
So, how was SOHO?
I love that feeling of moving over to a new city. We everything is new and exciting with a mix of scary and daunting. While your settling in everyday is an adventure.
Embrace it!
